Feedback: How do you feel about giving or receiving it?

Oasis Associates Sarah Bryson and Jane Bytheway facilitate the Oasis Skills for Change programme and in the short film above the discuss the importance of being able to give and receive feedback. A transcript of the film is below:

Working as coaches, and on the Skills for Change programme, we get lots of feedback about people struggling to give feedback - that they find it really challenging and difficult, even if they're giving

positive feedback to somebody, and particularly if it's where they need to share some constructive feedback because they need something to change. I mean it comes up all the time doesn't it?

Yes, and often comes up when people are working together as colleagues as well. So maybe if you're working on a project, or a task, you're trying to get something done together, and you actually need to maybe get some information, or have a really effective conversation, and yes, being able to give, then receive feedback is really vital in that situation as well, so that you can, as you say, when things are going well, but also handle difficult conversations when things aren't going so well.

Yes, I mean it's essential in life actually to be able to give feedback so that you can move projects and work and life forward.
