Positive relationships at work

Oasis Associates Jane Bytheway and Sarah Bryson facilitate the Oasis Skills for Change programme and in the short film above they talk about the need for building positive relationships at work. A transcript of the film is below:

Lots of people are leaving their jobs and have been since the pandemic, and perhaps what hasn't been so known is research confirms that 65% of people leave their job because of their manager, which is terrible, isn't it?

Yes, it's a really big statistic and I often hear in my coaching work that people's relationship with their manager is a huge source of stress and they often spend a lot of time stewing over a conversation that they need to have, that they're just not having.

Yes, absolutely. I certainly have spent several coaching conversations - like a whole 60 minutes - where somebody's trying to work out how to approach their manager, and what they want to say, probably for something that's going to take five or ten minutes.

And they've also spent a load of time talking to friends and family about it. It just takes up so much time and energy.

Yes, absolutely, and that's energy that could be better spent on something else.

Yes, absolutely.
